The Australian health cover scheme for international students is called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and wherein the coverage will take care of your medical or hospital fees during your course of study in Australia. The OSHC enables you to receive quality care, ambulance service during an emergency and also helps you cover the cost of medicines prescribed for your treatment. It is essential for you to arrange for an OSHC for you and your family members who might be traveling with you, before your actual travel date itself.
As OSHC is part of the student visa requirement, it is mandatory for you to maintain insurance cover for the entire period of validity of your student visa and duration of studies in Australia.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL TREATMENT
Australia has a very affordable, comprehensive and accessible health care system. They have both private and public hospitals that are open to any patient anytime.
Students who have their OSHC arrangement can attend the hospitals easily, and the insurance company will pay the bills.
Also, if the student doesn’t need to go to a hospital, rather he only needs to go to GP, and then he will pay a small amount that can be refunded later by the insurance company.
